ALPHONE MUCHA (1860-1939) [PAINTING.] 1911. 113/4x83/4 inches. Condition B+: sharp crease through lower right corner, affecting image; minor losses in corners. Oil on board. Hand signed. An image in the sgraffito, or scratch-painting style representing what appears to be a Slavic dance. An inscription in an unknown-hand on the verso reads "Komposice Ruske" [Russian composition]. Also with a green Mucha estate stamp on the verso. Most likely executed when Mucha was living in America, as the artist board was purchased in Boston.
